Description
This passage tomb is located on the summit of Kilmacoliver Hill, north-west of the
village of Owning (Onainn) and is situated 300m in elevation, overlooking the River
Lingaun (An Loinnean) 1km to the west which divides the counties of Kilkenny and
Tipperary. There is a central burial chamber of the cruciform type but only slight
traces of a passageway remain and is orientated NW - SE. Some of the kerb stones
remain in place especially in the south and one of the entrance stones has a single
circle motif carved on its face near the top. Much of the cairn material remains,
especially in the west and north of the mound, to a max. height of 1m. To the east of
the mound, is a small, flat boulder supported by two smaller stones but its function
and date is unknown.
